Bollox at Cropredy

Or how a small black dog was famous for a weekend

OK so it happened like this. For the last two years we've been accompanied on the annual pilgrimage to Cropredy by a small black dog of no fixed parentage, going under the name of Ellie. She was given to us by an anarchist living on the 13th floor of a council block, but that's another story
She's no fan of loud noise, so we usually leave her in the van for the evening gigs. She's pretty sensible with roads & cars & things (though sheep are another matter), so during the day she follows us around lead-less.
On Saturday lunchtime we'd been to the pub for the obligatory pint in the graveyard, where Ellie had taken to slurping beer out of 'dead' pints. We didn't think much of it, compared to many of her habits it was relatively civilized (eg eating sheep, guinea pig & especially horse droppings).
We headed back to site, with Ellie not noticeably the worse for wear, but at some point while browsing the stalls on the left site of the site, managed to lose her - without even realizing!
It was only as we approached the top of the field, when a small black shape came flying toward us, like the proverbial bat out of hell, did we realize that she was missing.
Apparently she'd been found running around & yelping like mad (actually quite normal behaviour for her), and had been taken to the lost children caravan.
We thought no more of it, and were working out way down the other side of the field, when I head a familiar sounding description booming out over the PA 'small black dog with white paws and blue necktie'. Someone shouted out 'what's his name' and someone else shouted 'bollox', so Ellie the Dog was renamed Bollox the Dog, despite not having any.
For the rest of the festival we couldn't move without people coming up to us and asking 'Is that Bollox?'
We considered trying to get her a main stage appearance on the strength of her new found fame, but she'd have probably just pee'd on something important.
